Virality is part of our daily lives, and increasingly in an evident way.
Viral marketing, viral videos… ¿But do we know what this is really about?
At this point, most people have a slight idea about what’s the meaning of virality, but it never hurts to have a more concrete idea.
As we now, marketing consists in a serie of techniques to get the interest and the consumption of a product or service. On the other hand, the word “virality” comes to the word of “virus”, something transmitted from one person to another. This way, if we join the two concepts, we obtain a type of marketing of which people talk and share with others who are around them.
Viral campaigns usually are launched by the own company, that looks for a certain reaction in people that see it or witness the action. In order for a campaign go viral, you must have as a result that these people share it with others, forming an increasingly larger network.
Viral marketing is closely related to digital marketing, specially to networks. The real aim of these campaigns is to get a brand recognition, create opinions, and that people talk about it.
The expansion of viral marketing during the last years is given by its features: it is able to reach a new audience with a reduced budget. That’s why small companies and advertisers have chosen viral marketing to promote their brands.
However, big companies have also jumped on the bandwagon of virality. It is a very powerful tool, which allows you to reach a particular audience, without disturbing users, but they themselves choose to participate or not.
