How to apply for the new Digital Kit: grants of up to 12,000 euros for the digitalisation of your SME

How to apply for the new Digital Kit: grants of up to 12,000 euros for the digitalisation of your SME

The Digital Kit is part of a new official economic aid program promoted by the Spanish Government to enhance the digitalisation of SMEs and the self-employed and thus modernise the economy. It was presented last November and has an endowment of 3,067 million euros from the NextGenerationEU funds.

These grants are set to be key to the economic recovery of Spain in the coming years. Its ultimate goal is to provide small businesses and the self-employed with the digital tools they need to grow, access new markets and develop their full potential. We must not forget that the self-employed and SMEs account for more than 95% of Spanish businesses.

Conditions to digitalisation grant application

In order to be a beneficiary of the Digital Kit grant, you must meet a series of conditions and requirements:

  1. Be a small company, a micro company or self-employed.
  2. Not be considered a company in crisis.
  3. Be up to date with tax and Social Security payments.
  4. Not be subject to any of the prohibitions laid down in the General Subsidies Law.
  5. Be registered in the official census of entrepreneurs, professionals and withholders.
  6. Not be subject to a pending recovery order following a prior decision by the European Commission.
  7. Not exceed the de minimis aid limit (€200,000).
  8. Fulfill the Digital Maturity Level test on the Acelerapyme platform. We explain this in more detail a little later.

What is the amount of the Digital Kit grant?

Depending on their size, there are three large groups of companies that can receive a digital voucher of differing amounts:

  • Segment I: Companies with 10 to 49 employees, will be able to obtain a total digital voucher of up to €12,000.
  • Segment II: Companies with 3 to 9 employees, will be able to obtain a total digital voucher of up to €6,000.
  • Segment III: Micro-companies with 1 to 2 employees and freelancers may receive a total digital voucher of up to €2,000.

It should be noted that these amounts are the total maximum, and it is not possible to allocate them to a single category. We break them down one by one in the next section.

Digital Kit solution categories

Interested companies will be able to choose from a wide range of digital solutions available in the Digital Kit. Depending on the segment to which your company belongs, you can dedicate a maximum amount to each of these solutions:

When will the Digital Kit grants be awarded?

In March 2022, the first call for aid will be opened for Segment I: SMEs with 10 to 49 employees. The endowment foreseen in this first call is 500 million euros.

Later, throughout the year 2022, the two remaining calls for Segments II and III will be launched until the budget of more than 3,000 million euros allocated to these subsidies is exhausted.

How to apply for the Digital Kit

  1. Access AceleraPyme and register your company through an online form.
  2. Take the Digital Maturity Level Test. There are 13 questions and it takes about 10 minutes. The results show a comparison with the average of Spanish SMEs. There are also two other optional tests: the Digital Transformation Self-Assessment, which guides towards the most convenient digital solutions, and the Cybersecurity Self-Assessment, specific to this field.
  3. At this point, you will receive your "digital voucher" with the allocated amount that you can use in the AceleraPyme marketplace to choose one or more digital solutions: web design, SEO positioning, e-commerce, social media management, customer relationship digitalisation and/or suppliers, Business Intelligence and analytics, etc.
  4. You will have six months to use the digital voucher in a total of up to five services that can be extended for a period of up to 12 months.

This is not an easy process. It will be uncertain and require many justifications and promptness. For all these reasons, at BCM Marketing we recommend that you make a good evaluation first and use the services of intermediary companies specialised in grants.
